Jonathan Hornyak

Jonathan Hornyak

Managing Partner

Jonathan Hornyak is a seasoned organization designer, executive coach, and managing partner at Kates Consulting, with over 20 years of experience helping executive teams design and transform their organizations. He specializes in implementing innovative models to execute complex business strategies that drive growth and efficiency.

Jonathan has worked with some of the world’s largest Global Fortune 500 companies, as well as founder-led organizations aiming to maximize the potential of their leaders and structures to achieve strategic goals.

In addition to his consulting work, Jonathan lectures at Cornell University and New York University, sharing his expertise in building strategic HR capabilities with both students and clients. Previously, he served as a Managing Director at Accenture and was a member of the Kates Kesler consulting team.

Jonathan holds a BA in Management Information Systems from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and is based in Charlotte, NC.

Jaclyn Kates

Managing Partner

Jackie is a managing partner at Kates Consulting, an organization design advisory firm dedicated to helping businesses navigate growth and transformation. The firm's approach is built on the pioneering organization design methodology of Jay Galbraith and leverages a network of design consultants who have collaborated closely over the past decade, sharing a deep appreciation for his work.

Jackie has led over 50 enterprise-level organizational redesign initiatives, spanning Fortune 50 corporations to high-growth, private equity-backed late-stage startups. While Jackie specializes in designing multi-dimensional global organizations, she is equally passionate about collaborating with founders of high-growth companies, often in the private equity sector. She works with these leaders to get ahead of the predictable organization challenges of growth and make the smart decisions that will allow them to efficiently scale their companies.

Jackie shares her organization design advisory experience as a guest lecturer at NYU, Cornell University, Brooklyn College, professional forums, and for in-house client programs. She holds a bachelor's degree with a dual-major in Finance and Operations from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Prior to founding Kates Consulting, Jackie was a consultant at Kates Kesler, Accenture, and Booz & Co. Outside of work, Jackie enjoys spending time with her husband and son.

Billy Carberry

Principal

Billy Carberry is a Principal at Kates Consulting and an organization design expert who helps executive teams build operating models that can deliver on complex strategies. He is known for bringing clear thinking, practical judgment, and a systems view to some of the most challenging organizational issues leaders face.

Billy began his organization design career as a Fellow at Kates Kesler, where he trained in the firm’s core methods and in the foundational work of Jay Galbraith. He later served as a Senior Manager in Accenture Strategy’s Operating Model & Organization Design practice, working with large and fastgrowing companies to strengthen how they structure teams, make decisions, and work effectively across functions. Leaders value his ability to make complicated issues understandable and to help groups align around the choices that matter most.
Beyond client work, Billy is committed to advancing the craft of organization design. His writing and teaching focus on extending the ideas of Galbraith, Amy Kates, and Greg Kesler for today’s dynamic, crossfunctional organizations. He has led multiple capabilitybuilding programs inside companies and frequently supports organization design courses at Northwestern and Cornell.

Earlier in his career, Billy held operations and supply chain leadership roles at Apple and United Technologies. He holds an MBA from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and a BA in Mathematics from Northwestern University. He lives in Charlotte, North Carolina with his family, where he and his wife enjoy the mountains and the rhythms of everyday life with kids.

Lorraine Damerau

Principal

Lorraine Damerau is an organization designer with over a decade of experience advising a range of clients as they navigate questions at the intersection of strategy and organizational health.

Lorraine takes an interdisciplinary, systems thinking approach to partnering with clients as they diagnose and tackle their most pressing challenges – bringing in concepts from business strategy development, systems engineering, behavioral economics, and game theory. Lorraine’s work is highly collaborative, enabling both strategic capability building and a sense of shared ownership over the resulting design.

Previously a part of Incandescent (a boutique strategy execution consulting firm) and a founding member of Accenture’s Operating Model and Organization Design practice (formerly Kates Kesler), Lorraine has built deep expertise in how thoughtfully designed and intentionally activated organizations enable strategic ambitions.

A lifelong student, Lorraine holds a MBA from London Business School, an MSc in Economics from University College London, and a BA in Physics / Theater & Performance Studies from Georgetown University. She is based in New York City.

Christie Irizarry

Principal

Christie is an Organization Design and Operating Model Advisor with over 15 years of experience helping leaders across industries co-create organizational solutions that translate strategy into action and deliver outcomes at speed and scale.

She partners closely with executives throughout the design process—identifying critical organizational capabilities, clarifying roles and accountabilities, designing effective structures, and activating the connections and ways of working needed to drive performance and growth.

Beyond client engagements, Christie delivers capability-building workshops for business and HR leaders and has guest lectured on organization design at NYU and Cornell. 

She holds an MBA from The Wharton School, where she focused on Organization Effectiveness and Management, and a BA in Communications from Rutgers University. Christie is based in Philadelphia, PA.
